WASHINGTON, D.C.— Mahmoud Bah joins Corus International as its Chief Operating Officer, effective May 1.
Bah has served the Millennium Challenge Corporation for the last 13 years in several leadership and operational roles, most recently as the presidentially appointed deputy chief executive officer and earlier as acting CEO.
“Mahmoud’s business acumen, international development and public policy expertise and a deep passion to eliminate poverty and promote global health are a powerful combination to help transform more lives more deeply in the years ahead,” Corus President and CEO Daniel Speckhard said. “Mahmoud brings to bear all perspectives — public and private sector, host government and community leadership, and, most of all, the families we serve — in a vision that ensures measurable progress.”
Corus International unites an array of world-class nonprofits and businesses, including international development and aid organization Lutheran World Relief, global public health leader IMA World Health, technology for development consultancy CGA Technologies; impact investing firm Ground Up Investing; and direct-trade company Farmers Market Brands. Its worldwide work is supported by a multitude of institutional partners, including USAID, USDA, FCDO and the World Bank, as well as tens of thousands of individual donors.
Bah joins Corus as it accelerates its pursuit of multidimensional, holistic approaches to achieve lasting change and impact. His appointment as COO follows a global search and rigorous interview process.
“I’m thrilled to join the Corus family and eager to help coordinate the organization’s global portfolio to achieve greater impact around the world and realize even higher levels of efficiencies and stewardship,” Bah said. “Corus is a leader in innovation and disruption of traditional international development, and that speaks to my personal and professional poverty alleviation mission to help more people throughout the world transform their lives for the better.”
Bah brings to Corus more than 20 years’ experience in international development, project finance and financial management, as well as public and forensic accounting and advisory and consulting services in both the public and private sectors. He is a non-practicing certified public accountant and earned an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
