Humanitarian action protects lives, health, and dignity during crises and supports communities as they recover and rebuild. Corus International delivers humanitarian assistance in natural disasters, conflict-driven emergencies, and protracted crises, with a dual focus on lifesaving relief and longer-term recovery.

Crises affect hundreds of millions of people each year, but the world’s poorest face the greatest losses — with the fewest resources to prepare for disaster and the hardest road to recovery. Emergencies also disrupt health care, education, food systems, and livelihoods, creating compounding risks that can last for years.

Corus International mobilizes the full capacity of our organizations to respond quickly, meet urgent humanitarian needs, and stay for the long term to support recovery. Working hand-in-hand with affected communities, we deliver lifesaving assistance in the immediate aftermath and help families restore livelihoods, rebuild infrastructure, and strengthen resilience to future shocks.

How Corus International
responds to crises.

Our humanitarian work aligns with all Five Fundamentals — Income, Place, Nutrition, Health, and Education — because crises disrupt every dimension of human well-being. We integrate relief, recovery, and resilience programming to ensure communities are not only helped in the moment, but equipped for a stronger future.

What We Do

Strengthen local markets and accelerate recovery

We prioritize local and regional markets in our response — sourcing goods locally, supporting small businesses, and keeping resources circulating within affected communities. From the earliest stages of emergency response, we help families restore livelihoods, rebuild income, and strengthen economic resilience.

Build local capacity to prepare for and respond to crises

We work alongside local partners and community leaders, providing tools, training, and support to manage disaster risks and respond effectively when emergencies occur. Strengthening local systems ensures faster, more coordinated responses and lasting capacity beyond a single crisis

Drive safer behaviors and protect vulnerable populations

Crises can increase harmful coping strategies and heighten risks of violence, especially against women and girls. We embed human-centered, culturally grounded social and behavior change approaches into our response — helping communities reduce harm, challenge dangerous norms, and promote dignity and safety.

Integrate environment-smart solutions

We incorporate environmental responsibility into every phase of humanitarian work. By promoting sustainable practices, we help communities meet urgent needs while protecting natural resources essential for long-term recovery and resilience.

Spotlight: Mobile Medical Units

IWhen the war in Ukraine destroyed health facilities and displaced medical personnel, Corus rapidly deployed a mobile clinic to reach communities along the front lines. We equipped a large medical trailer, staffed it with Ukrainian health professionals, and traveled across Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk to provide primary and specialized care where no services remained.

Impact:

  • Reached nearly 9,000 patients
  • Delivered 32,000+ medical services, including cardiology and ophthalmology
  • Provided mental health support to nearly 5,000 people
  • Delivered specialized mental health services to 2,000+ women and children affected by violence

Mobile clinics are a crucial bridge for communities cut off from permanent health facilities. Efficient, adaptable, and rapidly deployable, they bring care directly to people in conflict zones, disaster settings, and remote areas — ensuring lifesaving services continue even when health systems collapse.

In addition to Ukraine, Corus has operated temporary and mobile medical clinics in Yemen and South Sudan, expanding access to care for families facing extreme crisis conditions.
