Breaking the cycle of poverty for lasting change
Founded by Lutherans in the United States at the end of World War II, grounded in Lutheran theology and building on decades of experience, Lutheran World Relief (LWR) tackles global poverty by helping people adapt to the challenges that threaten their livelihoods and well-being. They work with people based on need, regardless of race, religion or nationality and do not evangelize.
LWR provides assistance in emergencies and humanitarian crises, helping families restore their lives. They partner with communities and local organizations to grow inclusive and climate resilient rural economies. They support community-owned solutions to development challenges that will last long after projects end.
LWR breaks the cycle of poverty, so families and communities can thrive.
